Perahu Kertas (lit.'Paper Boat') is a 2012 Indonesian drama film produced by Starvision and Mizan Productions and directed by Hanung Bramantyo. The film stars Maudy Ayunda and Adipati Dolken.

The film is based on the novel of the same name by Dewi Lestari. The theme song, "Perahu Kertas," is sung by Ayunda.

Synopsis

Kugy is a cheerful, tomboyish girl who believes she is an agent of the god Neptune. Kugy always has a unique "ritual": writing her heart out on a piece of paper, which she then makes into a boat and then floats on the water. Although at first glance she is a cheerful and carefree girl, she has a rather philosophical outlook on life.

Keenan, a talented young painter, is forced to study at the Faculty of Economics by his father. Together with Kugy's childhood friend, Noni (Sylvia Fully R), and Noni's boyfriend, Eko (Fauzan Smith), who is also Keenan's cousin, the four of them become a tight-knit group. From initially admiring each other, Kugy and Keenan secretly fall in love. But various things get in the way. Not only that, Kugy and Noni's friendship is broken when Kugy, in order to protect her feelings, does not come to Noni's birthday party held at Wanda's house.

Keenan finally goes to the house of Mr. Wayan, a painter who is Lena's old friend and Keenan's painting mentor. In a depressed mood, Keenan's painting creativity is stuck. Luhde, Mr. Wayan's niece, manages to revive Keenan's enthusiasm. A regular collector of Wayan's gallery named Remi becomes the first buyer. Wanting to quickly leave Bandung and her old environment, Kugy struggles to graduate quickly.

After passing her exam, Kugy's older brother, Karel, helps her get an internship at an advertising agency, AdVocaDo, owned by his friend, Remi. Kugy's work stellar results catch Remi's attention.[1]
