Pasuruan United (formerly known as Persema 1953 & AFA Syailendra ) is an Indonesian football team from Pasuruan City , East Java Province . They compete in the 2025–26 Liga 4.[3]
History
The club was founded under the name Persema 1953 in 2013 by the Malang City PSSI Regional Executive Board. At that time, Persema 1953 was a new club planned to be formed for the Division III competition. The Malang City PSSI Regional Executive Board chose to form a new team because they were hesitant to accept the offer to transfer the Persema Malang club . This was because, at that time, Persema's status was uncertain because it was no longer a PSSI member since being removed from the club in 2011.[4]
In 2021, Persema 1953 finally changed its name to AFA Syailendra.[5]
A year later, in 2022, PSSI approved the name change of the AFA Syailendra club, which changed its name to Pasuruan United.[6]
