Parecbasis is a monospecific genus of freshwater ray-finned fish belonging to the family Acestrorhamphidae, the American characins.[3] It contains the single species Parecbasis cyclolepis, found in the Western Amazon Basin in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Peru.[1]
