Oscar Tao

Oscar Tao Yuk-lun (Chinese: 涂毓麟, born September 2, 1998), originally known as Tao Sam-yip (涂心業), is a Hong Kong singer, classical pianist, and host. He debuted on the ViuTV program "Good Night Show - King Maker" in 2018 and made his Hong Kong music debut the following year. In 2021, he co-hosted the TVB music program "Jade Solid Gold" alongside Eric Kwok and Kandy Wong. In 2022, he signed with TVB as a contract artist.^[2] In the same year, he joined J2 Channel as one of the 22 J2ers. In June 2024, he met mainland Chinese financial anchor Sun Leyan while filming a mainland Chinese variety show, and their relationship became public in October of the same year.

While studying at La Salle College, Tao was already a piano student at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying under Professor Eleanor Wong Yee-lun and Ms. Eva Lue. In his second year of secondary school, he received a scholarship to study at Harrow School in the UK. He was selected by professors at the Royal Academy of Music and began studying piano with Professor Colin Stone, the same professor as Hong Kong pianist Aristo Sham. While studying in the UK, he achieved top marks in both the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) and the National College Entrance Examination (HKGEE), earning admission to several prestigious British universities, including University College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Ballio College, Oxford. Returning to Hong Kong, he majored in Global Business at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, graduating with First Class Honors in 2021. Before becoming a full-time artist, he worked at Gaw Capital Partners.^[3][4]
