Obed (hebr.: עוֹבֵד ‘Ōḇēḏ, "worshipper") was a son of Boaz and Ruth.[2] He was the grandfather of King David and is named as one of Jesus's ancestors in the genealogies recorded in the Gospel of Matthew[3] and the Gospel of Luke.[4]
