Naresh Kumar Mandal (born 13 April 1986), professionally known as N. Mandal, is an Indian film editor, director, and producer associated with regional and independent cinema in India.[1][2][3]
He is the founder and director of the Sincine Film Festival, an independent platform dedicated to regional, short, and independent cinema.[4][5]
His contributions to Maithili-language cinema and documentary filmmaking have been documented in books and media articles on the history of Maithili cinema.[6][7][8][9]
Mandal began his career as a film editor and later transitioned into directing. He is a self-taught filmmaker who developed his skills through practical experience rather than formal film education.[10]
Career
Mandal started working in post-production for Indian television serials in the late 2000s before directing short films, documentaries, and regional language projects.[11]
His documentary Lok Astha Ke Mahaparv Chhath (2018) explores the cultural and social dimensions of the Chhath festival.[12]
His short films Dark Night (2019) and Mukti Abhishap Se (2019) were screened at independent film festivals in India.[13]
In 2019, his short film NASA: The Error was announced for streaming on the digital platform Shivaay Originals.[14]
