Iliev was seen having an altercation with his partner outside of the building. Whiting, an employee of the pub, walked out with a bat, which was ripped from his hands and used to murder him.[3] Whiting died ten days after the attack in hospital on January 24, 2024, and had his organs donated, saving five lives in the process.[4]
