Santiago Ibarra Calderón (born 20 July 1988), better known by his ring name Mr. Iguana, is a Mexican professional wrestler. He is signed to Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) and WWE, where he performs on the NXT brand.[3][4][5]

Professional wrestling career

Ibarra made his debut on the independent circuit in Mexico in July 2009 and made his first appearance for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre on 11 October 2015.[6] However, he was rejected by CMLL due to his slim physique.[7] Ibarra created the Mr. Iguana character after his PlayStation character (he picked the Mr. Iguana name since there were wrestlers named Mr. Águila and Mr. Niebla); he saw how iguanas (a common animal from his hometown Culiacán) jump, similar to pro wrestlers El Santo and Blue Demon.[8] He uses green face paint after the wrestlers Jeff Hardy and The Great Muta.[9] He also carries a plushie iguana called "La Yesca".[10]

Ibarra signed a contract with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) in 2020.[11] He won his first championship on December 8, 2024, when he became AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion during a televised show in Monterrey alongside La Hiedra.[12] Following WWE's acquisition of AAA in 2025, Mr. Iguana was announced for the joint Worlds Collide event, teaming with Octagón Jr., and Aero Star to face Latino World Order (Dragon Lee and Cruz Del Toro) and Lince Dorado, whom they defeated at the event.[13][14] Following his appearance at the event, Iguana captured fan attention,[15] and as a result he was later shown in the crowd during Money in the Bank[16] and the following episode of Raw.[12] On the August 1 episode of SmackDown, Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown challenged Los Garzas for their AAA World Tag Team Championship, but were unsuccessful.[17] At Triplemanía XXXIII, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, and Raquel Rodriguez) defeated Mr. Iguana, Niño Hamburguesa, and Lola Vice in a mixed trios match (with Balor introducing his own puppet character, "Demonito", to "eat" La Yesca).[18]

At NXT Halloween Havoc on October 25, 2025, Mr. Iguana and La Parka lost a tag team match to Leon Slater and Je'Von Evans.[19][20] On November 2, Chelsea Green and Ethan Page defeated La Hiedra and Mr. Iguana for the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship, ending their reign at 329 days.[21]
