Mother Mary is an upcoming psychological drama-thriller-horror film written and directed by David Lowery. It stars Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel, Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Jessica Brown Findlay, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Alba Baptista, Sian Clifford, and FKA Twigs.
The film is scheduled to be released by A24 in April 2026.
Premise
The film follows the psychosexual affair between pop singer Mary and fashion designer Sam after the former's need for a dress for her new tour draws them back together.[3]

Production
The project was first announced in March 2023. David Lowery was to write and direct the film, and Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway were announced to star. Music was composed by Daniel Hart, with original songs provided by musicians Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX.[4] In May, Hunter Schafer joined the cast, so as Sian Clifford in October.[5] In March 2024, FKA Twigs was revealed to have a role in the film and will also contribute an original song.[6]
Filming began in Germany in May 2023.[7] In July, the production was granted a waiver to continue filming during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.[8] On July 20, 2024, Hathaway announced that filming had wrapped.[9]
Release
Mother Mary is scheduled to be released in the United States by A24 in April 2026.[10]
