Development

The production of Minions 3 started in July 2024 when it was announced by Illumination's CEO Chris Meledandri, after Despicable Me 4's successful box office gross.[1]

Audio leak

In October 2025, during a test screening, an audience member snuck in a recording device and recorded the entire audio of the film, which was then posted online.[2]

Release

Minions 3 is scheduled for release on July 1, 2026. It was originally going to release on June 30, 2027, but later took the original release date for DreamWorks Animation's Shrek 5.[1][3][4]

As part of Universal's long-term deal with Netflix for its animated films, the film will stream on Peacock for the first four months of the pay-TV window, before moving to Netflix for the next ten, and returning to Peacock for the remaining four.[5][6]
