Matthew Beem (born March 20, 1997) is an American YouTuber from Denver, Colorado.[1] Beem is known for his fast-paced, hyper-edited YouTube videos centered around high-stakes challenges, collaborations with other influencers, and building and creating large-scale projects.[2][3][4]

Early life

Matthew Beem was born on March 20, 1997, in Denver, Colorado.[3] Beem has said his early interests growing up included video games, basketball, film-making and street-wear clothing.[5][6]

After graduating high school in 2015, Beem worked for several years at an auto-body shop where he painted cars for minimum wage.[5][6] Beem has stated that he knew he "didn't want to go to college" and that he wanted to start working to save money to eventually invest in a YouTube channel.[6] While working full time, he began taking content creation more seriously in 2019, filming during evenings and weekends.[5]

YouTube Career

Beem initially began uploading videos to YouTube in 2010, posting Call of Duty gameplay.[6] However, he later said he was influenced by YouTube's vlog-era and creators such as Casey Neistat and Logan Paul and began posting similar style content beginning in 2019.[6] In an interview with Business Insider, Beem stated it took him roughly three years to reach 100 subscribers.[6]

Beem, originally known online as mbeem10, created his current channel in January 2018, but did not begin uploading until February 2019. Beem's first videos were about streetwear and his sneaker collection. He also enjoyed making content about basketball. Later that year, Beem decided to make his content more "broad" and began switching up to producing videos about eating challenges, vlogs, and pranks.[6] He first went viral in July 2021 after creating a custom car for MrBeast.[1] He also gained attention in 2022 from a video where he turned his room into an aquarium.[7][4] Beem is also known for building large props and statues,[6] including the world's largest ice cream cone[8][9][10] and largest operating iPhone.[11]
