Lipovec, Martin District

Lipovec (Hungarian: Lamosfalva) is a village and municipality in Martin District in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia.

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1395. Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, it was part of Turóc County within the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1945, it was part of the Slovak Republic.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 400 metres (1,300 ft)^[3] and covers an area of 12.74 km² (4.92 sq mi) (2024).^[4]

It has a population of 912 people (31 December 2024).^[6]

In year 2021 was 899 people by ethnicity 860 as Slovak, 25 as Not found out, 22 as Czech, 7 as Other, 4 as Rusyn, 2 as Russian, 1 as Polish and 1 as German.
