Lefter Talo (Greek: Λευτέρη Τάλλιος) is a village in the former commune of Livadhe, Vlorë County, southern Albania. At the 2015 local government reform it became a subdivision of the municipality of Finiq.[1]
Name
The name Lefter Talo (Lefteris Talios in Greek) was given to the village by the authorities of the People's Republic of Albania to honour Lefter Talo, a local World War II Albanian resistance leader of Greek ethnicity.[2] (Hero of the People recipient). He was known as one of the most prominent members in the Chameria battalion of the Albanian National Liberation Front.[3] The former name of the village was Hajdëragas and was of Albanian origin[4] with its suffix (-aga) coming from the Turkish title agha.[2] At the Ottoman registers of 1895 it was recorded as Hadir-aga or Haidar-aga.[5] It derived from the name of an Ottoman-era landowner who was in possession of the settlement.[6]
Demographics
The village is inhabited by Greeks, and the population was 178 in 1992.[7]

A hamlet near Vourko, in the Aghioi Saranta district, formerly known as Handiraga (from the Turkish title "aga") was re-named "Lefteris Tallios" (indicating that it was Greek) in honour of the leader of a band of guerilla fighters from the Greek community
