Lešť (Hungarian: Lest) is a municipality and a former village in the Zvolen District in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia.

Currently, it is the location of the Lešť military training centre.[3]

History

Before the establishment of independent Czechoslovakia in 1918, Lešť was part of Nógrád County within the Kingdom of Hungary. From 1939 to 1945, it was part of the Slovak Republic.

Geography

The municipality lies at an altitude of 570 metres (1,870 ft)[4] and covers an area of 145.48 km2 (56.17 sq mi) (2024).[5]
