Jim Henson's Animal Show is an American children's television series from the Jim Henson Company that aired from October 3, 1994, to June 28, 1998. The show premiered as part of The Fox Cubhouse for its first two seasons. The show later moved to Animal Planet with its third season released as early as February 18, 1998. As of December 2025, the series is featured on the Yippee TV streaming service.[1]

Plot

Stinky the Skunk and Jake the Polar Bear host a talk show where they interview two different species of animals per show.[2] Some episodes interview only one animal. The interviewees talk about themselves, as video clips are played of real animals of the same species.[3]

Season One[4]

  1. Cheetah & Gazelle - Stinky and Jake welcome a cheetah and a Thomson's gazelle to the show, with a focus on predatory habits and animal speed.
  2. Dolphin & Fruit Bat - Stinky and Jake welcome a dolphin and fruit bat to the show. Both animals use echo-location for navigation despite their very different habitats.
  3. Koala & Ostrich - Stinky and Jake welcome a koala and an ostrich, both natives of Australia, to the show. While the koala is a fussy eater, ostriches will eat anything!
  4. Crocodile & Armadillo - Stinky and Jake welcome a crocodile and an armadillo to the show. Both of these animals have tough skin that works as a strong armor for defense from predators.
  5. Aardvark & Chameleon - Stinky and Jake welcome an aardvark and chameleon to the show. These animals both have very long tongues that are used for eating, grooming, and protection.
  6. Elephant & Hunting Dog - Stinky and Jake welcome an elephant and a hunting dog to the show. Each of these animals works hard to stay cool!
  7. Lion & Zebra - Stinky and Jake welcome a zebra and a lion to the show. These animals share a habitat, the African grasslands.
  8. Rattlesnake & Skunk - Stinky and Jake welcome a rattlesnake and extra special guest, Stinky! Both animals are known throughout the animal kingdom for their defense mechanisms.
  9. Wildebeest & Sea Turtle - Stinky and Jake welcome a turtle and a wildebeest to the show. Both of these animals love to travel, migrating great distances each year.
  10. Shark & Sea Lion - Stinky and Jake welcome a shark and a sea lion to the show. These animals share a habitat: the deep blue sea!
  11. Rhino & Gorilla - Stinky and Jake welcome a rhinoceros and a gorilla to the show. This episode focuses on endangered species and conservation efforts to help save them.
  12. Sea Otter & Vulture - Stinky and Jake welcome a sea otter and a vulture to the show. Both of these animals are unique because they both use tools to help them survive.
  13. Owl & Octopus - Stinky and Jake welcome an owl and an octopus to the show. These animals have similar eyesight and both animals also have beaks!
  14. Penguin & Kiwi - Stinky and Jake welcome a penguin and a kiwi to the show. Both of these birds are flightless.
  15. Giraffe & Sloth - Stinky and Jake welcome a giraffe and a sloth to the show. These animals have similar appetites - they think trees are delicious!
  16. Tiger & Tiger Beetle - Stinky and Jake welcome a tiger and a tiger beetle to the show. Look out! These animals are known to be very ferocious!
  17. Raccoon & Polar Bear - Stinky and Jake welcome a very special guest to the show. In all the excitement, however, Jake forgot to invite another guest. Will they find someone in time?
  18. Beaver & Spider - Stinky and Jake welcome a beaver and a spider to the show. Both of these animals are special because they make their own homes.
  19. Wolf & Baboon - Stinky and Jake welcome a wolf and a baboon to the show. These animals like to hang out and travel in groups.
  20. Kangaroo & Frog - Stinky and Jake welcome a kangaroo and a frog to the show. Both of these animals are known for hopping around.
  21. Walrus & Warthog - Stinky and Jake welcome a walrus and a warthog to the show. Though they live in very different environments, both of these animals have tusks.
  22. Grizzly Bear & Hedgehog - Stinky and Jake welcome a grizzly bear and a hedgehog to the show. Both of these animals get sleepy and need to hibernate.
  23. Gila Monster & Kangaroo Rat - Stinky and Jake welcome a gila monster and a kangaroo rat to the show. These animals share a habitat, the desert!
  24. Bighorn Sheep & Red Deer - Stinky and Jake welcome a bighorn sheep and a red deer to the show. Both of these animals have horns or antlers.
  25. Badger & Rabbit - Stinky and Jake welcome a badger and a rabbit to the show. These animals both live in burrows.
  26. Manatee & Lemur - Stinky and Jake welcome a manatee and a lemur to the show. Even though they live in different habitats, both of these animals have strong and useful tails.

Season Two[5]

  1. Chimpanzee & Hyena - Stinky and Jake welcome a chimpanzee and a hyena to the show. These animals like to spend time with their families!
  2. Whale & Ant - Stinky and Jake welcome a whale and a soldier ant to the show. While the ant is one of the smallest creatures, the whale is one of the largest!
  3. Tarantula & Mole - Stinky and Jake welcome a tarantula and a mole to the show. Both of these animals like to make their home by burrowing.
  4. Toad & Elephant Seal - Stinky and Jake welcome a toad and an elephant seal to the show. Each of these animals is known for the noises they make.
  5. Arctic Fox & Camel - Stinky and Jake welcome an Arctic fox and a camel to the show. Both of these animals are very good at adapting to changes in their very different environments.
  6. Hippopotamus & African Buffalo - Stinky and Jake welcome a hippo and a buffalo to the show. Both of these animals are very dangerous—Stinky and Jake will need to be careful!
  7. Wasp & Blue-footed Booby - Stinky and Jake welcome a wasp and a blue-footed booby to the show. Each of these animals is uniquely colored.
  8. Gemsbok & Moose - Stinky and Jake welcome a gemsbok and a moose to the show. Each of these animals has horns or antlers.
  9. Marine Iguana & Roadrunner - Stinky and Jake welcome an iguana and a roadrunner to the show. Both of these animals are really fast.
  10. Bison & Musk Ox - Stinky and Jake welcome a bison and a musk ox to the show. Each of these animals likes to travel in big herds!
  11. Orangutan & Potto - Stinky and Jake welcome an orangutan and a potto to the show. Both of these animals live in trees.
  12. Stork & Shoebill - Stinky and Jake welcome a stork and a shoebill to the show. Both of these animals have large and useful beaks.
  13. Wild Horse & Volcano Rabbit - Stinky and Jake welcome a wild horse and a volcano rabbit to the show. Each of these animals is an endangered species and is being helped through conservation efforts.

Season Three[6]

  1. Siberian Tiger & Reindeer - Stinky and Jake welcome a Siberian Tiger and a Reindeer to the show. Though these animals live in different parts of the world, they both like the cold.
  2. Crab & Snail - Stinky and Jake welcome a Crab and a Snail to the show. Though they look different, both of these animals have shells.
  3. Owl & Frog - Stinky and Jake welcome an Owl and a Frog to the show. Both of these animals are nocturnal: they like to stay up late!
  4. Indian Elephant & Human - Stinky and Jake welcome an Indian Elephant and a Human to the show. These animals often cooperate and work together in different ways.
  5. Pelican & Flamingo - Stinky and Jake welcome a Pelican and a Flamingo to the show. Each of these animals eats in a unique way.
  6. Warthog & Baboon - Stinky and Jake welcome a Warthog and a Baboon to the show. Both of these animals live in the African brushlands and each one travels in a group.
  7. Mouse - Stinky and Jake welcome a Mouse to the show. Stinky has the idea to throw a surprise party for the mouse, but mice don’t like surprises, especially this one!
  8. Monitor Lizard & Crocodile - Stinky and Jake welcome a Monitor Lizard and a Crocodile to the show. Both of these animals have strong scales that help to protect their bodies.
  9. Albatross & Hummingbird - Stinky and Jake welcome an Albatross and a Humming Bird to the show. Both of these birds are expert fliers even though they are very different in size.
  10. Humpback Whale - Stinky and Jake welcome a Humpback Whale to the show. The biggest animal in the world stops by to talk about life in the big blue ocean.
  11. Spider Monkey & Lemur - Stinky and Jake welcome a Spider Monkey and a Lemur to the show. Both animals are like acrobats in the animal world: they spend their time swinging in trees.
  12. Honeybee & Honey Possum - Stinky and Jake welcome a Honey Bee and a Honey Possum to the show. Both of these animals depend on flowers in order to survive.
  13. Wasp & Ant - Stinky and Jake welcome a Wasp and an Ant to the show. These related insects visit the show to talk about their life cycles.
  14. Coyote & Red Fox - Stinky and Jake welcome a Coyote and a Fox to the show. It is Annoy Humans Day at “The Animal Show” and to celebrate, the Coyote and Fox visit to share some insight on how to be a great pest!
  15. Grasshopper Mouse & Stoat - Stinky and Jake welcome a Grasshopper Mouse and a Stoat to the show. Despite their sizes these two animals are actually quite tough.
  16. Fish - Stinky and Jake welcome a Fish to the show. Stinky and Jake take an in-depth look at what it’s like to be a fish.
  17. Pika & Chamois - Stinky and Jake welcome a Pika and a Chamois to the show. Even though they are very different, both of these animals live in the mountains.
  18. Bald Eagle - Stinky and Jake welcome a Bald Eagle to the show. This special guest visits to talk about birds of prey.
  19. Jaguar & Yellow-Footed Tortoise - Stinky and Jake welcome a Jaguar and a Turtle to the show. Both of these animals are part of the same food chain.
  20. Spoonbill & Salmon - Stinky and Jake welcome a Spoonbill and a Salmon to the show. Both animals migrate despite their very different habitats.
  21. Colobus Monkey & Flying Squirrel - Stinky and Jake welcome a Colobus Monkey and a Flying Squirrel to the show. These two animals possess the ability to glide great distances and often appear to be flying.
  22. Rattlesnake - Stinky and Jake welcome a Rattlesnake to the show. The rattlesnake visits to teach Stinky and Jake all about snakes.
  23. Hornbill & Woodpecker - Stinky and Jake welcome a Hornbill and a Woodpecker to the show. Both of these animals have beaks designed for unique and specific behaviors.
  24. Giant Otter & Mink - Stinky and Jake welcome a Giant Otter and a Mink to the show. These two animals are similar and are often mistaken for each other even though they live in different environments.
  25. Mongoose & Secretary Bird - Stinky and Jake welcome a Mongoose and a Secretary Bird to the show. Both animals have a similar appetite: both animals eat snakes.
  26. Gorilla & Lion - Stinky and Jake welcome a Gorilla and a Lion to the show. These two animals live with their families.
