Jalsin (bn. জলসিন) is a village located near Dhamrai, in the greater Dhaka region of Bangladesh, commonly referred to as Nannar Dhaka, a local term used to describe areas surrounding the capital city of Dhaka.[1]
Geography
Jalsin is situated within the Dhaka Division of Bangladesh.[2] The village lies in the low-lying riverine plains typical of central Bangladesh and is characterized by agricultural land and rural settlement patterns. The estimate terrain elevation above sea level is 3 metres.[3]
Administration
Administratively, Jalsin falls under local government units of Bangladesh, including a union parishad and upazila within the Dhaka Division. Specific administrative boundaries require verification.[4]
Economy
The local economy of Jalsin is primarily based on agriculture, small-scale trading, and employment in nearby urban and industrial areas around Dhaka.
Culture
Like many villages in central Bangladesh, Jalsin's cultural life is influenced by Bengali traditions, including religious observances, local festivals, and community-based social activities.[5] The Dhar Zamindar Bari is a major attraction in Jalsin. The palace was built by a Kashmiri Pandit Zamindar of the Dhar family who migrated from Dar, Jammu and Kashmir to Bangladesh. Later, in 1919, the palace was partly demolished and converted to Alokeshi High School[6], by a descendant, Judge[7] Mohini Mohan Dhar Esq.former Dewan of Mayurbhanj State.[8]
Education
Educational facilities in and around Jalsin include primary schools and access to secondary education in nearby towns.
Transportation
Residents typically rely on rural roads and local transport to connect with nearby markets and urban centers in the Dhaka metropolitan region.[9]
