Jagatpura is a residential locality in the south-eastern part of Jaipur city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is also the name of a nearby village in Shahpura Tehsil. The area has experienced rapid infrastructure growth and is an emerging residential and commercial hub within Jaipur.[2]

Etymology and history

The name “Jagatpura” is historically a place name for a census village in Shahpura Tehsil within Jaipur district.[3] Over recent decades, urban expansion of Jaipur has extended development and urban neighbourhood identity around the name, particularly towards the city's south-east fringe.

Geography

Jagatpura is situated in the south-eastern periphery of Jaipur city, offering connectivity to major roads like Tonk Road and proximity to Jaipur International Airport (~6–8 km).The village of Jagatpura occupies about 431.6 hectares in Shahpura Tehsil.[4]

Demographics

The village of Jagatpura had a population of 2,319 according to the 2011 Indian census. Of these, 1,175 were males and 1,144 were females.[5][6]

Urban development

Jagatpura has undergone significant residential and infrastructural development and is now considered one of Jaipur's fast-growing neighbourhoods, with planned roads, landscaped parks, estates,[7] commercial zones and increasing real estate activity.
