Isabelle Pierre (born Nicole Lapointe; June 11, 1936) is a Canadian singer and radio host from Quebec. She is best known for her 1971 song "Le temps est bon", written by Stéphane Venne as the theme for the film The Men (Les mâles), which became her signature hit and later saw renewed popularity in France in the 2010s through remixes and renewed circulation.[1][2][3]

Career

Lapointe trained in fine arts in Montreal before turning to music in the early 1960s. She began performing as a singer in 1963 and released her debut album in 1965.[1] In the early 1970s, she recorded a run of songs written and composed by Stéphane Venne, including "Le temps est bon", which was used as the theme song for The Men (Les mâles) and became her best-known recording.[3][2]

Later life and legacy

After releasing her final album, J’m’appelle Nicole Lapointe (1974), she withdrew from public performance and remained out of the spotlight.[2]

"Le temps est bon" later gained renewed attention in France, aided by a remix by the French collective Bon Entendeur and by renewed circulation connected to film use and online platforms.[3][4]

Personal life

She married Quebec painter Robert Wolfe in 1961; they divorced in 1970.[5] She is the aunt of actress Anne-Marie Cadieux and photographer Geneviève Cadieux.[2]
