Horizontal is the third studio album by Moodswings. It is a two disc set with different versions of several tracks appearing on both discs. Upon release, it bore a sticker reading, "New from the makers of 'Moodfood'. Moodswings bring you a 2-CD set of sublime velvet electronica, 'a cinematic journey to soothe your mind.' - 302 060 223-2".[3] It is Moodswings' first for Water Music Records, having previously been on Arista.[4][5]
Horizontal is their first offering following the departure of Grant Showbiz, who is replaced by Lee Spencer. J.F.T. Hood's former The Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr appears on three tracks, and Julee Cruise provides vocals on "Seems to Remind Me (Of Love)" & "Into the Blue". Justin Adams, B.J. Cole, Terry Disley, Bob Loveday & Liz Upchurch, who all guested on Moodswings' previous albums, return on Horizontal.
The album closes with a rendition of Claude Debussy's Clair De Lune. "Storm in a Teacup" appears in the 2005 documentary Do You Believe? Another World Is Possible.
