Her New Knife is an American shoegaze band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[2] The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Edgar Atencio, drummer Elijah Ford, guitarist Ben Kachler and bassist Carolina Schooley.[3]
History
A group of students would meet at Florida State University in 2020, and form Her New Knife.[3] They would later release a series of extended plays (EPs) over the years, Destroza (2021), Nightcore+++ (2024),[4] Chrome Is Lullaby (2024).[5][6] Her New Knife would also co-headline on a tour by American shoegaze band Julie.[7]
Artistry
Cady Siregar of The Fader felt Her New Knife followed in the footsteps of other rock bands like Spirit of the Beehive and They Are Gutting a Body of Water.[3] While Stereogum's Abby Jones commented on "purepurepure", saying that it "toes the line between melodic and uneasy, driven by an eerie bassline that seems to creep along Edgar Atencio's whispery vocals."[1]
