Hana Abdullah Alnuaim (Arabic: هناء عبدالله النعيم) is a Saudi academic,[1] professor of Computer Science, and a leading researcher in Human–Computer Interaction and User Interface Design.[2] She served as the acting President of King Abdulaziz University from July 2022 until February 2024,[3] playing a pivotal role in advancing educational innovation, governance, and women's empowerment in Saudi higher education.[4][5][6]

Academic and Administrative Career

Alnuaim began her academic journey at King Abdulaziz University,[7] joining the Department of Computer Science as a teaching assistant in 1988.[8] She became assistant professor in 2001, Associate Professor in 2012, and was promoted to full Professor in 2018.[9]

She served in several prominent administrative and leadership positions, including:

  • Head of the Women's Computer Science Department, King Abdulaziz University (2000–2005).
  • First Vice Dean for Distance Learning to launch the Deanship in the Women's Campuses (2005–2009).
  • Dean of Women's Campuses, King Abdulaziz University (2009–2019).
  • Acting Dean of the School of Home Economics (2009–2014).
  • Acting Dean of Women's Campus, University of Jeddah (2015–2016).
  • Vice President of the University for Women's Campuses (since 2018).
  • Acting President of King Abdulaziz University (July 2022 – February 2024).[10]
  • Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs (since October 2024).[11]
