Florida is an unincorporated community located in and governed by La Plata County, Colorado, United States.[2] Florida is a part of the Durango, CO Micropolitan Statistical Area.

History

The Florida, Colorado, post office operated from August 8, 1877, until March 31, 1881.[4] The Antonito, Colorado, post office (ZIP code 81120) now serves the area.[3] The community takes its name from the nearby Florida River.[5]

Florida is located in eastern La Plata County at coordinates 37°12′54″N 107°45′09″W / 37.2150°N 107.7526°W / 37.2150; -107.7526 (Florida, Colorado) and elevation 6,729 feet (2,051 m).[2]
