Emily Schrader (Hebrew: אמילי שריידר; born 20 April 1991) is an Israeli-American journalist, author, activist and Zionist. She is a news anchor at ILTV News[1][2] and a co-host of The Quad on JNS.[3][4]
Early life
Schrader was born in Seattle, Washington, and raised in Los Angeles, California. She has a mixed Christian and Jewish background,[5] and identifies as Jewish.[6][7]
Schrader studied at the University of Southern California, majoring in political science, and obtained her master's degree at Tel Aviv University in political communications.[5] Schrader made Aliyah to Israel in 2015.[8]
Career
Schrader is a journalist, pro-Israel activist and Zionist, and campaigner against antisemitism.[2][9][10][11] She has been a Jerusalem Post columnist[12] and a commentator on Middle Eastern affairs.[13] She was digital director of the pro-Israel lobbying organization, StandWithUs.[14]
She has advocated for women's rights in Israel and in the Middle East, with a focus on calling attention to issues women face in the Islamic Republic of Iran.[15][16][17][18][19] In December 2023, Schrader initiated an open letter condemning terror activities of the Iranian government and Hamas which was co-signed by 55 female leaders from 12 Middle Eastern countries.[16]
In 2020, she helped organize an open letter urging Meta Platforms to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.[11]
Schrader was named by Algemeiner as one of the 100 People Positively Influencing Jewish Life in 2022,[20] and in 2023 as one of the 18 "women to watch" by Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization.[21][22] She also received the 2023 Sylvan Adams Nefesh b'Nefesh Bonei Zion award for Young Leadership,[23] an award given to English speaking immigrants to the state of Israel for their outstanding contributions to Israeli society.[24]
In February 2025, her first book was published, 10 Things Every Jew Should Know Before They Go To College, co-authored with Israeli writer Blake Flayton and American artist Kimberly Brooks.[25] In the book, Schrader recommends that young Jews participate in Birthright Israel, learn Hebrew, and connect with Jewish communities.[26]
Personal life
Schrader and Yoseph Haddad, an Arab-Israeli journalist, were engaged in May 2021, but had not yet married as of November 2023.[9][8][27]
