Electoral history of Willie Brown

Willie Brown is an American politician who served as the mayor of San Francisco from 1996 to 2004. Brown also served in the California State Assembly from 1965 to 1995.[1] During his tenure in the Assembly, Brown served as Speaker of the Assembly from 1980 to 1995, which is the longest tenure as Speaker.[2] He was the first African American to serve in the position of both the mayor of San Francisco and Speaker of the California State Assembly.[3] Brown retired from politics after the end of his mayoral term in 2004.
