Drops of God (French: Les Gouttes de Dieu; Japanese: 神の雫, romanized: Kami no Shizuku) is a French-American-Japanese television series created by Quoc Dang Tran, directed by Oded Ruskin and starring Tomohisa Yamashita and Fleur Geffrier. It is based on the manga series of the same name written by Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Shu Okimoto. The series centres on the competition for inheritance of an estate and its vast wine collection between an heiress and a star student of a well-known oenologist who died. However, the former experiences severe side effects related to her childhood trauma and the latter's family complicates the process.
Drops of God premiered on 21 April 2023 on Apple TV+.[1][2] In May 2024, the series was renewed for a second season.[3] Season 2 is set to air with eight episodes on January 21, 2026.[4][5] In 2024, the series won the International Emmy Awards for Best Drama Series.[6][7][8]
Synopsis
When wine authority Alexandre Léger dies, he leaves behind the world's finest private wine collection, and a sprawling Tokyo estate. Before his estranged daughter Camille can claim her inheritance, she must battle Alexandre's protégé, Issei, in a series of wine-related tests.
In Season 2, Camille and Issei set on journey to uncover the origin of the world’s greatest wine, a mystery so elusive that even the legendary Alexandre Léger could not solve it. As they travel the world, the duo learn centuries of forgotten histories, hidden rivalries and secrets, which also test their sibling bond and themselves to solve the mystery.

As a young girl, Camille was trained by her father, world-renowned oenologist Alexandre Léger, to recognize various flavors while blindfolded. In the present day, Camille experiences severe biological reactions when tasting alcohol. Her estranged father tells her he is dying and asks her to come to Tokyo. Her father's old friend, restauranteur Luca Inglese, informs her that Alexandre has died. Camille learns that Alexandre's mansion and valuable wine collection will be inherited by either her or his protege Issei Tomine, depending on their performance in three wine-related trials. Meanwhile, Issei rejects an arranged suitor and has a tense dinner with his parents, who disapprove of his chosen career in wine. The first trial is to taste a wine and identify it after one month. Upon tasting it, Camille has a nosebleed and inadvertently breaks the glass. She intends to renounce her inheritance, but changes her mind after touring Alexandre's wine cellar at Luca's behest. She watches a video message her father left for her, in which he asks her to undertake the challenge.

Camille arrives at the vineyard of family friend Philippe. He has Camille undergo an MRI, where they learn that she associates alcohol with the traumatic hospitalization that occurred while she was training with Alexandre. By working with Philippe's son Thomas, Camille successfully recognizes various isolated scents, but struggles to identify them in wine. Camille realizes that her mother Marianne had sabotaged her communications with Alexandre, leading to their estrangement. Meanwhile, Issei's grandfather, the leader of their family corporation, orders Issei to withdraw from Alexandre's succession. With Philippe and Thomas's help, Camille improves at oenology. While smelling a wine, she remembers that the hospitalization was caused by her willingly imbibing and was not the direct fault of her father. She impulsively drinks the wine and declares it delicious.
