Doug Shane is an American politician currently representing the 37th Kansas Senate district as a Republican.
Biography
Shane was originally from suburban Overland Park but moved to rural Louisburg attending the Louisburg High School.[1][2] Shane joined the Future Farmers of America developing a new passion for agriculture, and mixed it with his pre-existing passion of biology and science leading to his pursuit of a career in Animal Health.[2] Shane has a PhD and D.V.M. from Kansas State University.[1][2] Shane was a professor of animal health at Kansas State University prior to his election.[3]
Shane ran to replace Molly Baumgardner in the 37th Kansas Senate district as a Republican.[1] Shane has touted his amendments to the Kansas Open Meetings Act and Open Records Act to regulate third-party litigation funding.[4] He also amended the state budget to allocate $300,000 for the Kansas School for the Deaf.[4]
