Dominic Burns (born 30 December 1970) is an English film director, screenwriter, producer and former actor.

After a career as an actor, Burns moved into directing where he really found his feet directing: Highlights include the critical failure Airborne which Bloody Disgusting called [2] "...never develops any substance. When it’s not being cliche, it’s not making sense" and UFO which box chatter called [3] "bargain bin crass of the highest order".

He frequently shoots his films in Derbyshire,[4][5] his home county where he still lives with his mother.

Early life

Burns was born in Derby[4] and attended Ecclesbourne School in Duffield, Derbyshire, England.[6] He then moved into the film industry in 2006.

Career

Burns was trying to forge a career as an actor in 2006 when he featured in a local Derby production,[7] Sam Lennox's The Buck Rules[8] where he was also the Associate Producer. He continued to try and make it as an actor, with a role in gangster flick Jack Said, part of a trilogy, of which Burns went on to direct one.

As a director Burns attempted to direct the world's first single continuous-shot horror movie[9] CUT. This was the first film that Burns directed, wrote, produced and acted in. CUT started Burns's fascination with the "Long Shot" which has become a style uses in most of his films. Letterboxhd said of the film "the storyline moves along at a sluggishly slow pace and the characters are pretty dull".[10]

Burns has also produced another British independent film in 2014, Devil's Tower which stars Jason Mewes & Roxanne Pallett, which was directed by Owen Tooth.

Burns directed Alien Uprising starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Sean Pertwee, Moria Reviews gave the film 1 star saying "Burns’ editing style quickly began to annoy me before I even had the opportunity to work out what was happening."[11]

Burns has also produced and directed the WWII action drama Allies.
