Dausa–Gangapur City Railway Line is an operational broad-gauge railway line in the state of Rajasthan, India. It connects Dausa Junction on the Delhi–Ahmedabad main line with Gangapur City Junction on the Delhi–Mumbai corridor, enhancing connectivity across Dausa, Lalsot, Bamanwas, Sapotara and Karauli districts.

The line is functioning with diesel services, while electrification is ongoing.[1]

History

The line was developed to improve railway connectivity in eastern Rajasthan. Parliamentary documents indicate that the Ministry of Railways sanctioned surveys, construction work and funding for the project under various phases.[2] [3]

Train services on the line began after completion of major sections, as noted by multiple news reports.[4]

The Ministry of Railways also released official updates confirming operational readiness of the route.[5]

Route

The Dausa–Gangapur City Railway Line covers approximately 97 km and includes the following stations:

  • Deedwana (DDWA)
  • Lalsot (LLST)
  • Bindori (BNOI)

  • Piplai (PPLA)
  • Bamanwas (BMWS)
  • Khuntala (KHUT)
  • Udai Kalan (UDKL)
  • Gangapur City Junction (GGC)

Electrification

The Government approved over ₹140 crore for electrification of the Dausa–Gangapur City section. Work began in 2023–24 and is progressing in phases.[6]

Electric train operations are expected to begin soon after completion of electrification.[7]

Importance

The line:

  • Improves regional mobility between Dausa and Karauli
  • Provides a direct connection between major railway corridors
  • Enhances economic development in eastern Rajasthan
  • Reduces travel time and boosts intercity passenger traffic
  • Will support faster services after electrification
