Chris Appelhans is an American film director and illustrator born in Idaho.[1]
He is the writer and director of the 2021 film Wish Dragon[2][3] and the 2025 film KPop Demon Hunters, serving as co-director with Maggie Kang in the latter.[2][4] He is also known for illustrating two children's books, A Greyhound, a Groundhog and Sparky!.[5] He won the Children's Choice Book Award in 2015.[6]

Personal life
Appelhans married author Maurene Goo in 2012, and the couple resides in Los Angeles.[7][8] They have one son, born in 2020.[9][8][10]
