Billy Knight is a 2025 American drama film written and directed by Alec Griffen Roth. The film stars Al Pacino, Charlie Heaton, and Diana Silvers in a coming-of-age story that is a "love letter to cinema... steeped in the history of this great art form."[1]
Premise
Alex, a film student in Los Angeles, grapples with the death of his father, a failed screenwriter. While sorting through his belongings, Alex finds a box of unfinished screenplays and a handkerchief with "Billy Knight" embroidered on it. This discovery puts Alex on a "magical Hollywood adventure to track down the Billy Knight".[2]

Production
The film was in production beginning September 2022,[1] with Al Pacino starring as "Billy Knight".[2] The film was written and directed by Alec Griffen Roth in his directorial debut.[6] As of mid-2023, the film was in post-production.[7][8]
Release
Billy Knight premiered at the 43rd Rhode Island International Film Festival on August 8, 2025.[9] It also screened at the Newport Beach Film Festival on October 18, 2025,[10] and the Coronado Island Film Festival on November 7, 2025.[11] It had its European premiere at the UK Film Festival in London on November 23, 2025,[12] and screened at the Torino Film Festival on November 23, 2025.[13]
The Mise-En-Scène Company handles worldwide sales.[14]
Reception
The Miami Hurricane praised it, writing; "this film displayed the nostalgia surrounding the love of movies, making it majestical and aesthetically pleasing".[15]
