Bharat Swamy

Bharat Swamy is an Indian musician who served as the original composer, songwriter, and vocalist for the rock band Agni.[1] Swamy has been noted as an early contributor to rock music in India.[2]

Agni was co-founded in 1985 in Pune, a city known for its music scene. The band began with Bharat Swamy, Pravin Bell, and Nitin "Juggie" Jagtap.[3] In 1992, the lineup expanded with the addition of Rustom "Ross" Kayani and Kaustubh "Koko" Dhavale.[3] The band released their debut album titled Wind Dance with Fire in 1993,[3] with Swamy having composed the songs.[4] Swamy left the group following the death of two band members.[5]

In 2020, to mark the 25th anniversary of the deaths of his band mate and former manager, Bharat Swamy launched Agni Webbed, a digital rock platform. He began this new venture by releasing the original song "The Monster Within" in May 2020.[6]
