Begüm Kavukçuoğlu (born 2006) is a Turkish taekwondo practitioner who competes in the women's heavyweight divisions. She is the 2019 World Cadet champion, the 2024 European U21 champion, and the 2025 World U21 champion.[1]

Career

Kavukçuoğlu made her international debut as a cadet, winning bronze at the 2018 Turkish Open and gold at the 2018 Multi European Games in Plovdiv. She repeated her Multi European Games victory in 2019.

In 2019, she captured her first world title by winning the women's +59 kg event at the 2019 World Cadet Taekwondo Championships in Tashkent.[2]

She continued to progress through youth and senior divisions, earning silver medals at the 2020 Turkish Open and WT Presidents Cup Europe, gold at the 2021 Multi European Games, and multiple senior-level medals from 2022 to 2024, including at the Romania Open, Senegal Open, Skopje Open, Turkish Open, and European Clubs Championships. She also won the 2024 European U21 Championships in Sarajevo.

At the 2025 World U21 Taekwondo Championships in Nairobi, Kenya, Kavukçuoğlu won the women's +73 kg title, securing the second world championship of her career. Competing through four bouts, she defeated Jyoti Yadav of India in the opening round, Naomi Alade of the United States in the quarterfinals, Imane Khayari of Morocco in the semifinals, and Artemia Kitsiou of Greece in the final to claim the gold medal.[3]

Personal life

Kavukçuoğlu was born in Kastamonu and studies Sports Management at Nişantaşı University. She represents Beşiktaş J.K. in domestic competition.[4]
