"Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" is a song by the American rock band ZZ Top from their third studio album Tres Hombres (1973), The recording sessions for Tres Hombres took place at Robin Hood Studios (Tyler, Texas) with overdubs and mixing at Ardent Studios (Memphis),[1] and the song was issued as a UK single in 7 June of 1974 (with “La Grange” as B-side).[2][3]
Covers
- Motörhead recorded a cover of ZZ Top's "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" during sessions for their debut album in April 1977, the track featuring Lemmy and "Fast" Eddie Clarke trading vocal lines was issued by Chiswick/Big Beat on the Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers EP in 1980. [5][6][7]
- Van Halen regularly covered ZZ Top's "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" during their early club days and intermittently revived the song on later tours, contemporary setlists and live recordings document performances as early as May 1976 and as late as January 1983.[8][9][10][11]
- Tesla recorded a cover of ZZ Top's "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" for their covers album Real to Reel, Vol. 2 (2007), the track appears as part of the band's reinterpretation of classic rock songs.
- Coheed and Cambria contributed a cover of ZZ Top's "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" for the tribute album ZZ Top: A Tribute from Friends (2011).
- BPMD recorded a cover of ZZ Top's "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" for their covers album American Made (2020).[12]
- Supersuckers recorded a cover of ZZ Top's "Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers" for their 2018 album Suck It, the track has also appeared regularly in the band's live setlists.
