Babiana petiolata is a perennial flowering plant and geophyte belonging to the genus Babiana.[1] The species is endemic to the Western Cape and is part of the fynbos. It occurs from Velddrif to Lamberts Bay. It has an area of occurrence of 175 km2 and there are four subpopulations. The plant has lost habitat to the planting of potato fields. Currently, the species is threatened by coastal development and mining activities.[2]
