Amy Griffin is an American venture capitalist and author who founded G9 Ventures.[1] Her 2025 memoir The Tell was an Oprah Book Club pick in March 2025 and became a New York Times bestseller later that month.[2][3][4] In September 2025, some concerns came to light about the veracity of the claims Griffin made in her book.[5]

Life

Griffin was born and grew up in Texas.[6] Her father was CEO of Toot'n Totum, a Texas-based chain of convenience and auto-service stores.[7] She is a graduate of the University of Virginia.[8]

In her twenties, she worked in marketing and promotions at Sports Illustrated magazine.[7] At 27, she married John Griffin, founder of hedge fund Blue Ridge Capital, on May 3, 2003.[9][7]

In 2021, she became a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[6][10]

Debate about the book's realism arose partially because her memory of childhood sexual abuse in the 1980s was achieved through the use of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy.[5]
