Aghuz Darreh (Persian: آغوزدره, also Romanized as Āghūz Darreh and Āghūzdarreh; also known as Āghūzdar and Āghūz Dar)[1] is a village in Tuskacheshmeh Rural District, in the Central District of Galugah County, Mazandaran Province, Iran.

Geography

Aghuz Darreh is on the northern slopes of Eastern Alborz range, in a short distance from Golestan province.[2]

Aghuz Darreh is between Vezvar village in west and Chin Parch in east. Nekarud river is south of Aghuz Darreh, with Anderat village located nearby. Due to the abundance of large walnut trees on the edge of the valley overlooking the village, this place was named "Aghuz Darreh" (lit.'Walnut Valley'). One of the village's natural sights is Shamshir Bar.[3]

Demographics

As of the 2016 census, its total population was 263 consisting of 102 families.[4] Decreased from 397 in 2006.[5] The main profession of the people are Animal husbandry and farming (products include wheat, barley, potatoes, rice, millet, walnut, apple, pear and Animal products), as well as carpet weaving and gardening to a lesser extent.[3] The spoken language is Mazanderani.[2]

Aghuz Darreh was the birthplace of 6 soldiers lost their lives during Iran–Iraq War.[3]
