The 2029 Summer Deaflympics (Greek: Θερινοί Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες Κωφών 2029), officially known as the 26th Summer Deaflympics or XXVI Summer Deaflympics, will be an international multi-sport event to be held in Athens, Greece in 2029. This will mark the first time Greece has hosted the Deaflympics. This will also mark the first Summer Deaflympics in Europe since 2017.
Bidding process
The Hellenic Athletic Federation of the Deaf, and the Croatian Deaf Sports Federation both submitted their bids in July 2025 by the deadline. Athens was originally planned to host in 2013, but withdrawn in 2011 due to financial and economic issues.
On 30 November 2025 at the ISCD Congress in Tokyo, Japan, Athens won the right to host beating out Zagreb by two votes of 33–31.[1][2]
