8 Super Bowl LX will be played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara and will air on NBC along with Spanish language coverage on Telemundo and streaming on Peacock. This will be first Super Bowl NBC will broadcast without Al Michaels since gaining the Sunday Night Football package, with Mike Tirico taking his place. [5][6][7]

18–19 WrestleMania 42 will broadcast from the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on ESPN. It will be the only second time WrestleMania will be held at the same venue in consecutive years, after WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V in 1988 and 1989, which were held at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. TBD The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will end its 11-year run and with it, CBS will discontinue its franchise originating with David Letterman in 1993 and producing original programming in the 11:30 p.m (ET) time slot that follows local news. CBS cites the cancellation was due to financial reasons and a decline in advertising revenue for its late-night programming. The move comes one year after CBS canceled After Midnight (which aired in the slot following The Late Show) and sold that airtime to Byron Allen for Comics Unleashed. [12]

11–July 19 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place. It will be the 23rd edition of the tournament but the first to feature 48 teams. It will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations and the first North American World Cup since 1994. It is scheduled to air on Fox along Spanish language coverage on Telemundo. [13]

Notes:

  • On July 17, 2025, Stephen Colbert announced on The Late Show that the show would be ending in May 2026, which received some controversy. Although some sources and CBS claim that the network is ending the show for financial reasons, other sources claim that the show was canceled for political reasons due to Colbert's comments regarding the second Trump administration as well as Paramount's settlement with Donald Trump's lawsuit regarding Kamala Harris' October 2024 60 Minutes interview (which also came as the Paramount-Skydance merger still awaited to be closed), with Colbert's comments occurring just three days before his announcement of the show's cancellation.[192][193]
