Tanzanian Championship League (known as the NBC Championship League for sponsorship reasons) is the second-highest football league in Tanzania (mainland only).[1] The season will started on 10 October 2025 and will end on 23 May 2026.[2]

Mtibwa Sugar is the defending champion and was promoted to the Premier League along with Mbeya City,[3] replacing Ken Gold FC and Kagera Sugar which were relegated from Premier League.

Teams

The league consists of 16 teams – the top 11 teams from the previous season, two teams relegated from Premier League and three teams promoted from the First League.[4]

Gunners FC and Hausung FC were promoted as champions and runners-up of the 2024–25 First League,[5] replacing Biashara United and Cosmopolitan FC who relegated to First League.

Tanesco FC has been promoted by winning the play-off against Green Warriors FC who has been relegated to First League.

Name changes

  • Before the start of the season, Kiluvya FC renamed their club the Barberian FC, and Tanesco FC renamed their club the B19 FC, both as part of rebrandin.
