A Ranji Trophy fixture returned to this venue after 25 years.[13] Assam were bundled out for 103 after opting to bat first upon winning the toss. Services' reply yielded only a 5-run lead, with Riyan Parag returning career-best figures of 5/25 alongside Rahul Singh's 4/44 for Services. Assam were dismissed for 75 in their second innings with Arjun Sharma and Amit Shukla picking four and three wickets respectively for the Services. Their team reached the target of 71 in just 13.5 overs for the loss to two wickets as the game came to an end in just four sessions. In terms of number of sessions played, this match just passed the 1934–35 fixture between Madras and Mysore, for the lowest sessions played in a completed Ranji Trophy match. However, in terms of overs played, this match broke the record for the shortest completed match in Ranji Trophy history. The match ended in a total of 90 overs being bowled (540 deliveries), surpassing the 1961–62 clash between Delhi and Railways that reach a result in 91.1 overs (547 deliveries). Also, the match saw two bowlers claim hat-tricks, the first such instance in Ranji Trophy history. Left-arm spinner Arjun Sharma and left-arm seamer Mohit Jangra both claimed hat-tricks for Services, in the first and second innings respectively.[14][15]
