2024 TCR Brazil Touring Car Championship

The 2024 TCR Brazil Touring Car Championship was the second season of TCR Brazil Touring Car Championship.

Pedro Cardoso won the drivers' championship, finishing three times ahead of Juan Ángel Rosso.[1]

🏁 Main Facts

  • The 2024 season title was won by Pedro Cardoso (Brazil) with 274 points, narrowly beating Juan Ángel Rosso (Argentina), who finished with 271 points.
  • In the “Copa Trophy” (a subdivision of the category), Enrique Maglione (Uruguay) took the championship.
  • In the team standings, PMO Racing (Argentina) won with 521 points, followed closely by Brazil’s W2 ProGP with 505 points.
  • The season was highly competitive: although Cardoso took the title, he did not dominate with many victories, relying instead on consistency.

📊 Stats and Technical Highlights

  • Race winners: Brazilian driver Rafael Suzuki scored five victories, the most of the season.
  • Other winners included Galid Osman (four wins) and several others with one or two victories.
  • Pole positions: Argentine driver Ignacio Montenegro claimed four poles, followed by Juan Manuel Casella with three.
  • The series continues to follow the global “TCR” (Touring Car Racing) format, using modified touring cars from multiple manufacturers with a weekend structure of practice, qualifying, and races.
  • The Brazilian championship shares some rounds with the TCR South America, allowing events outside Brazil to be part of the calendar.

📍 Calendar and Circuits

✅ Highlights and Strengths

  • The tight championship battle, decided by just three points, showcased the competitiveness of the series.
  • Consistency proved more important than outright wins — steady results across races made the difference.
  • The diversity of manufacturers and teams strengthened the Brazilian TCR model, creating a rich competitive environment.

⚠️ Challenges and Points of Attention

  • The fact that the champion didn’t have the most wins shows that consistency, not just victories, is key to success.
  • Integration with the South American championship requires logistical coordination for teams competing across multiple countries.
  • For future growth, the series must continue to attract drivers, manufacturers, and media exposure.
