Elections were held in Nevis in late August 1983 to elect five members of the Nevis Island Assembly. This was the first election for the assembly, and was held ahead of Saint Kitts and Nevis becoming independent from the United Kingdom in September 1983, with Nevis' newly established devolved assembly taking office following independence.[1]

Results

The election saw the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) win a landslide victory, securing all five seats. The NRP were unopposed in two seats, while in three they were opposed by the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who received minimal support and subsequently lost their deposits, and also were opposed in St John by the Nevis Independent Party (NIP).[1][2]
