The 1979 [Japan Series was the championship series of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the 1979 season. The 30th edition of the Series, it was a best-of-seven playoff that matched the Central League champion Hiroshima Carp against the Pacific League champion Kintetsu Buffaloes. The home team won the first six games before the Carp defeated the Buffaloes in Game 7 on the road for their first Japan Series championship in team history.
