The 1889 Victorian football season was the 20th senior season of Australian rules football in the colony of Victoria.[1]
VFA
South Melbourne won the Victorian Football Association (VFA) premiership for the fourth time and the second year in a row, after finishing the season with 14 wins from its 19 matches.[2]

The 1889 VJFA season was the seventh season of the Victorian Junior Football Association (VJFA).[a] North Park won the premiership for the fourth time, as part of a sequence of five premierships won by the club between 1886 and 1890.[4][5]

The 1889 GVFA season was the second season of the Goulburn Valley Football Association (GVFA).[9]
Numurkah won the premiership for the second time, after defeating Cobram in the grand final held on 10 August 1889.[10]
