ʻŪ

‘Ū or U is one of the first two people who first inhabited the island of Upolu in Samoan mythology and oral tradition.

‘Ū originated from the first maggots that one of Tangaloa a lagi's servants, Tuli, made by mistake after Tangaloa a lagi sent down his other servant, Lefue. Lefue spread out like a vine, covering all the trees and breaking them down from their roots. Tuli chopped up Lefue, who began to rot, and from that came the first maggots that sprouted into people. in the Samoan story "O Le Tupuga o Tagata".[1]
