Vittorio Gallese

Vittorio Gallese (* 1959 in Parma) ist ein italienischer Neurowissenschaftler.

Er studierte Medizin an der Universität Parma und wurde 1990 in Neurologie promoviert. Er ist Professor an der Universität Parma. Zugleich ist er Full Professor of Experimental Aesthetics an der University of London.

Gallese entwickelte das Konzept der embodied simulation: Wir verstehen die Handlungen und Emotionen anderer Menschen, indem wir diese auf unseren eigenen Körper und neuronalen Systeme „simulieren“ oder abbilden. Dieser Mechanismus basiert auf dem Konzept der Spiegelneuronen.
