Ernest John Revell

Ernest John Revell (* 15. April 1934 in Bengaluru; † 15. Dezember 2017 in Antigonish) war ein britischer Hebraist. Er war Experte auf dem Gebiet des biblischen Hebräischs.

1962 wurde Revell an der Universität Toronto mit einer Dissertation zum Thema A structural analysis of the grammar of the Manual of discipline (1QS) promoviert.

Er wurde Professor am Institut für Nahoststudien der Universität Toronto, das später in Institut für Nahost- und Mitteloststudien umbenannt wurde. Zeitweise war er Vorstand des Instituts. Revell war Mitglied der Society of Biblical Literature.^[1] Er blieb auch nach der Emeritierung bis 2016 wissenschaftlich aktiv und veröffentlichte bis dahin zahlreiche Werke.

Revell war hobbymäßig Aquarellmaler und botanischer Künstler.^[2]
