Chatsworth ist eine Stadt (City) im Murray County in Georgia und der County Seat des County.
Geschichte
Murray County und damit Chatsworth gehörte zum Siedlungsgebiet der Cherokee. 1804 ließ der Cherokee-Häuptling James Vann in der Nähe des späteren Ortsgebiets von Chatsworth das Vann House, eines der ersten gemauerten Gebäude der Region, errichten. Vann wurde 1809 ermordet und die Cherokee in den 1830er-Jahren auf dem Pfad der Tränen nach Westen vertrieben.[1]
1905 erreichte die Louisville and Nashville Railroad Chatsworth und der Ort wurde gegründet. Im folgenden Jahr wurde der Ort zur Town erhoben. Es wurde 1915 County Seat und 1917 wurde das Gerichtsgebäude Murray County Courthouse fertiggestellt. Chatsworth wurde 1923 zur City. 1977 entstand der Stausee Carters Lake im Süden der Stadt am Conasauga River.[2]
Bevölkerung
In Chatsworth lebten 2023 4.857 Personen. 63,7 Prozent der Bewohner waren nicht-hispanische Weiße und 22,7 Prozent hispanische Weiße. Das Medianeinkommen pro Haushalt betrug $ 68.176 im Jahr.[3]
